...And We're Done!

That was tremendous fun; a solid 28 hours of gameplay (and there was loads I missed out on so a replay is going to be pretty much essential) and the only real let-down was - yup, you guessed it - the ending.

I reckon it's a setup for "Enemy Territory: Rage Wars".

The sole major gameplay problem I had was with mouse movement. It's just too unpredictable/fast/imprecise in the menus and too slow in actual gameplay - I just can't do a straight 360 turn with one flick, more like 45 or 60 tops is the best I get, which made some combats frustrating.

The menus could be easily fixed by adding some clearly labelled keyboard shortcuts on the relevant options - I believe that the console versions have them, and they would go a long way towards making that part of the game more playable.

I'm not talking about the main menus here of course (they're almost fully navigable via keyboard and don't present a problem) - it's the in-game menus, the inventory, the shops, the garage, etc that are a total pain to navigate.

I love the way the game is totally packed with little nods to earlier ID games (although remaking one of the smaller original Doom or Quake maps as a sewer mission would have been awesome). Here's another I missed on my first visit to the location in question (Gearhead Vault); not the Doom room itself but the small piece of text on the left of the door-frame (you may need to click on the image for the larger view to see it better).

Note also the Mixom box - no delivery of chainsaws though. :(

Now, back to being productive!

You'll need to adjust m_yaw and m_sensitivity for that, as m_sensitivity appears to have no effect. As is customary, higher for both is better: I found 0.055 for each to feel about right.

Note that setting them from the console, for whatever brilliant reason, may result in you being unable to continue gaining achievements, so best to do it from the launch options menu.

Thank you, worked perfect. :)

I'm not bothered about achievements, I've been playing with the console enabled all along so it's cool.

I'm also really enjoying it; although playing it on PC, I've been using a controller, which is excellent - probably the best for a FPS I've experienced. The control scheme at least seems optimised for consoles.
Still only about 50% through, but its definitely fun - flawed admittedly, but I don't just want intensity or acute realism from games, I also like just about enough immersion to be involved - but most of all; FUN!
